RNA scope and Protein Chemistry

• Plan, design, and conduct advanced research projects primarily involving RNA-scope of neurons and wide field microscopy.
• Perform recombinant DNA techniques including isolation and purification of plasmid DNA, restriction enzymatic analysis of DNA, PCR, qPCR, bacterial transformations, agarose gel electrophoresis, and transformation.
• Perform Protein Biochemistry including SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting and ELISA.

Cell Culture and Cellular Biology

• Investigate mechanisms of action of channel interfering compounds in rodent nociceptors.
• Perform mammalian cell transfections.
• Perform mammalian cell culture techniques.
• Conduct confocal and wide-field microscopy.

Research Project Coordination

• Serve as a liaison between PI/Director, lab staff, and collaborators within as well as external to UF.
• Coordinate special studies or projects as directed.
• Responsible for coordinating activities of all ongoing research projects.
• Maintain accurate records and legal documentation required by institutional policies such as biological and chemical safety policies.
• Manage ordering process to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of grant funding.
• Maintain lab supply inventory to ensure supplies are available for scheduled research projects.
• Research and evaluate new products, compare and negotiate vendor prices.

Scientific Writing and Dissemination

• Analyze data and assemble results for scientific publications, grants, and conference presentations.
• Aid in the development of new research and laboratory protocols.
