Step into a cutting-edge environment where artificial intelligence directly accelerates biomedical discovery. Our state-of-the-art research facility provides a highly collaborative environment designed for seamless remote collaboration across time zones.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with genetic experts to build agentic AI capabilities that query, connect, and reason across genomic datasets.
- Develop tool-use pipelines that enable AI agents to programmatically access public genetic databases and interpret biological context.
- Design reproducible, modular code that allows scientists to adapt and extend agent workflows for new research questions.
- Ensure AI agent outputs are scientifically grounded, robust, and actionable for target identification.
- Document system architecture, agent workflows, and server configurations to ensure maintainability.
- Work with HPC environments and utilize version control platforms like GitHub to maintain code reproducibility.
Requirements
- Degree & Experience: MS + 1 year of experience or a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Genetics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (3-5 years preferred overall).
- AI & Agentic Frameworks: Demonstrated experience building AI agents, including multi-agent orchestration, tool use, memory, and reasoning pipelines.
- API & Data Integration: Proven ability connecting agents to external APIs, databases, and structured/unstructured data sources.
- Programming & Data Science: Strong Python proficiency; experience with Pandas, Biopython, scikit-learn, and LLM harnesses/frameworks.
- Genetic Concepts: Working knowledge of foundational genetics (laws of inheritance, linkage disequilibrium, population stratification).
- Engineering Standards: Hands-on experience with HPC environments and git-based reproducible code practices (GitHub).
Preferred Skills
- Genomics Techniques: Experience with GWAS, fine mapping, colocalization, and summary statistics interpretation.
- Biomedical Resources: Familiarity with resources like GWAS Catalog, OMIM, ClinVar, Open Targets, GTEx, multi-omics integration, and biomedical ontologies.
- Advanced AI Architectures: Familiarity with vector databases and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for scientific knowledge retrieval.
