About the role
The primary responsibilities of the Adjunct Faculty member are the instruction and coordination of the Biocon - Fermentation Principles course for the Henry E. Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences. The Biocon-KGI program partners with an Indian Biopharmaceutical company focusing on diabetes, cancer, and autoimmune diseases. This program trains recent graduates in drug development, preparing them for industry roles.
Responsibilities
- Teach online synchronous live sessions on weekday evenings (Pacific Standard Time)
- Provide high-quality student instruction
- Evaluate student performance through written assignments, examinations, and in-class activities
- Remediate student learning as needed
Requirements
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in biochemical engineering, bioengineering, or a related field, with 5-7 years of relevant Biopharma/Biotech industry experience
- A doctoral degree is preferred
- Experience with downstream bioprocess technology
- Prior teaching experience and a commitment to active learning
- Experience with the Canvas learning management system and online teaching (training provided)

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team and collaborate with other departments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate verbally and in writing, listen to all points of view, build consensus, and inform others of policies and decisions
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and adapting to changing priorities

$2,500 - $15,000 per semester, depending on credits per course

Education and Experience
A minimum of a Master’s degree in biochemical engineering, bioengineering, or a related field, with 5-7 years of relevant Biopharma/Biotech industry experience. A doctoral degree is strongly preferred. Experience with downstream bioprocess technology is required. Prior teaching experience and a commitment to active learning is preferred.
