About the role
You will primarily work within the autonomous lab, developing and running biochemical and enzymatic assays to evaluate engineered strains and proteins at scale.
Responsibilities
- Execute biochemical and enzymatic assay development and troubleshooting (e.g., activity, binding, titer assays) to support strain and protein evaluation, using the autonomous lab’s instrumentation and robotics.
- Translate assigned assay protocols into automated, code-driven workflows under the guidance of senior scientists.
- Support protein or metabolite purification and characterization needed for assay development.
- Test the biochemical performance of assays and strains, troubleshooting at the bench when automated workflows require intervention.
- Maintain accurate, automation-compatible records of assays and protocols.
Requirements
- BS in biochemistry, chemistry, or a similar field.
- Comfort working in, or strong interest in learning to work in, an automated, high-throughput, robotics-driven laboratory environment, including software- and code-driven workflows.
- Prior experience with biochemical techniques such as spectrophotometry, chromatography, or enzyme/binding assays a plus.
- Prior experience using automated workflows and associated software a plus.
