About the role

You will primarily work within the autonomous lab, developing and running biochemical and enzymatic assays to evaluate engineered strains and proteins at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Execute biochemical and enzymatic assay development and troubleshooting (e.g., activity, binding, titer assays) to support strain and protein evaluation, using the autonomous lab’s instrumentation and robotics.
  • Translate assigned assay protocols into automated, code-driven workflows under the guidance of senior scientists.
  • Support protein or metabolite purification and characterization needed for assay development.
  • Test the biochemical performance of assays and strains, troubleshooting at the bench when automated workflows require intervention.
  • Maintain accurate, automation-compatible records of assays and protocols.

Requirements

  • BS in biochemistry, chemistry, or a similar field.
  • Comfort working in, or strong interest in learning to work in, an automated, high-throughput, robotics-driven laboratory environment, including software- and code-driven workflows.
  • Prior experience with biochemical techniques such as spectrophotometry, chromatography, or enzyme/binding assays a plus.
