About the role
Your years of rigorous scientific training are more valuable than ever — and not just in the lab. We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine some of the world's most advanced AI models on cutting-edge scientific reasoning. At Alignerr, we partner with leading AI research teams to build models that can think like experts. That means we need real experts — people who can spot when an AI gets enzyme kinetics wrong, misunderstands stereochemistry, or produces a flawed metabolic pathway. If that's you, this role was built for you.
Responsibilities
- Design Expert-Level Problems — Create challenging biochemistry problems spanning protein folding, nucleic acid chemistry, metabolic flux analysis, proteomics, and drug-target interactions to rigorously stress-test AI performance.
- Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as the scientific benchmark for AI reasoning in life sciences.
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical derivations for scientific accuracy, logical consistency, and safety.
- Sharpen AI Reasoning — Identify and document reasoning failures — such as incorrect stoichiometry, stereochemical errors, or flawed enzyme mechanisms — and provide structured feedback that directly improves model quality.
Requirements
- Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in progress) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline.
- Deep Domain Knowledge: Strong expertise in one or more of the following — structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, molecular genetics, or bioinformatics.
- Scientific Writer: Ability to communicate complex biological and chemical concepts clearly, precisely, and concisely in written form.
- Meticulous Attention to Detail: High precision when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, reaction mechanisms, and experimental protocols.
- No AI experience required — we'll guide you through everything you need to know.
- Nice to Have: Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review; Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST; Background in bioinformatics or cheminformatics.
