Bindery Worker 1
About the role
This position helps make gospel teachings, resources, or services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church.
Responsibilities
- Participates as a team member in the operation of bindery and finishing equipment by feeding printed material and associated components into machines, assisting with operations such as hand collating, gathering, bundling, drilling, stitching (stapling), boxing, etc., under the direction of lead operators (bindery journeyman), supervisors and group managers.
- Other duties as needed and as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pull, push and move material weighing up to several hundred pounds occasionally using pallet jacks and carts and lift and work unassisted with materials weighing up to 30 pounds constantly in a high paced production environment.
- Must have good manual dexterity and be able to perform fast-paced repetitive actions (ex. putting books into boxes) while standing for the majority of the shift; able to bend, squat, stretch, reach, climb, etc. constantly throughout assigned shift.
- Must be able to learn, perform and rotate between alternating job assignments and machinery.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be able to stand or sit for entire shift, depending on job assignment.
- Must be dependable and on time.
- Requires basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Must be able to work as an effective and efficient member of a production team yet be able to work independently as production schedules and skills/training require.
- Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
- Able to work courteously with associates of various educational, ethnic, cultural and experience backgrounds.
Skills
- Basic to intermediate-level computer skills desired.
- Ability to use computer based production tracking, time tracking, payroll, and communications programs.
- Must have an active LDS Account.
