BIM Technician - Sheetmetal

VDC Technician - Sheetmetal Position OverviewAre you an experienced Virtual Design and Construction Technician with a thorough knowledge of HVAC system installation throughout a broad spectrum of building types? The ideal candidate will have experience with building-related projects, hospitals & medical buildings, industrial manufacturing plants, schools, retail, and commercial buildings, etc. Also be capable of performing all aspects of the VDC drawing process beginning to end. This position will be located in either our Westmont, IL office, our Lawrence, KS office, or in our Freeport, IL office. An opportunity for a remote position would only be considered for candidates with over 10+ years of experience as a VDC Technician for a mechanical contracting company and experience with prefabrication integration. Key ResponsibilitiesKnowledge of HVAC and ductwork systems and designs. This includes sizing and layout of systems.Willingness to travel to job sites for field walk downs and occasional project meetings.Create 3D models to comply with client and company standards.Generate construction documents from 3D Models. Knowledge of BIM.Develop flow diagramsParticipate in QA/QC processesRevit – 5+ years required. RequirementsDrafting degree is a plus, but with the proper field experience it is not mandatoryA minimum of 7 years of experience in the MEP industry (including field experience if applicable)A minimum of 5 years of experience in a VDC role, using Revit, with a mechanical contracting firmLead technicians must have experience in the construction coordination process and production of drawings for Coordination, Fabrication, and Installation of systemsBasic knowledge of design tools involved in the production of plans, sections, P&ID’s, and equipment schedulesBasic knowledge of building codesPrevious experience with 3D modeling software. Autodesk Revit is the primary software we use.Understanding all MEP disciplines is a plus, but not mandatory. Candidates with sound experience in a specific discipline may be eligible for training in all disciplinesExperience producing mechanical design drawings for engineering review and permitting is a plusExperience working with Navisworks, Revizto, BIM track, etc. is required.Strong verbal and written communication skills are neededAbility to develop plans/ISOs from P&ID layoutsSkillset to quickly adapt to strict VDC standards and processesAbility to work independently as well as in a team environmentKnowledge of database management is a plus, but not mandatoryMicrosoft Office Suite Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) are neededIt is required that this person would need to join the local sheetmetal union. Current union membership is not required, but would be a plus Salary & BenefitsRange: $80,000-$120,000Final determination of a successful candidate’s pay is based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
