About the role

The Preservation Technical Services Division of Northwestern State University of Louisiana is seeking a BIM Research Associate. This position is in partnership with The National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT), a research and training office of the National Park Service. Northwestern State University is located on the campus of Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches, LA.

Responsibilities

  • Moderate knowledge of photographic techniques.
  • The ability to travel to remote sites (possibly for weeks at a time) around the country and conduct in the field data collection at historic sites.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • A basic knowledge of architectural history and historic preservation.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and diplomatic.
  • Must be project focused, have an excellent attention to detail and a strong ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must possess a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Minimum of an Undergraduate Degree is required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be clear to work in the US for the two-year contract with no Visa sponsorship or renewal necessary.
  • Knowledge of Reality Capture technology and working with digital twins.
  • Proficiency and up-to-date in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, and BIM/CAD software.
  • Create, manage, and modify digital 30 model(s) and construction drawings using Autodesk Revit and other CAD/BIM software to follow project workflow criteria.
  • Use CAD to draw building and site plans from 3D data models.
  • Create and modified detail 3D models for detection, evaluations, and assessment documentation.
  • Compile and submit reports within specific timeframes.
  • Support the preparation of project deliverables, including plans, sections, elevations, and details.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Make safety a top priority at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience with LiDAR capture and scanning on site.
  • Experience with UAS data capture.
  • Experience with photogrammetry.
  • Experience with GIS systems.
  • Experience with Cyclone 3D, RBently itwin, Agisoft Metashape, Virtual or Augmented reality.

Bonus

  • Experience with Reality Capture technology and working with digital twins.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, and BIM/CAD software.

Pay

$50,470 per year with benefits.

Schedule

Contract for two years.
