BIM Project Specialist | Plumbing Engineering

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, manage, and maintain detailed Revit models for plumbing systems, from design development through to detailed documentation.
  • Ensure that all models comply with industry standards and project specifications.
  • BIM Coordination for MEP: Lead coordination efforts between plumbing systems with other building systems.
  • Facilitate and lead coordination and clash detection meetings with internal teams and external consultants using tools such as Navisworks and ACC BIM360.
  • Ensure timely resolution of clashes and conflicts by working closely with all project stakeholders to deliver coordinated, conflict-free designs.
  • Design Support: Assist in the virtual design and layout of plumbing systems, providing support for system sizing, routing, and space management.
  • Standards and Quality Control: Ensure adherence to BIM execution plans (BEP), managing project-specific BIM standards for plumbing systems.
  • Perform regular quality control checks on models to maintain accuracy and alignment with project goals.

Key Outcomes

  • Accurate and Coordinated MEP Models: Ensure that plumbing Revit models are fully coordinated with other building systems, free from significant clashes, and meet project requirements.
  • Improved System Design: Provide accurate and efficient design and coordination of plumbing systems, ensuring optimal performance, space utilization, and ease of installation.
  • Effective Coordination and Clash Resolution: Lead coordination and clash detection meetings, ensuring that all design conflicts are identified early and resolved efficiently. Streamline interdisciplinary collaboration to minimize delays and enhance project delivery.
  • Optimized BIM Processes: Continuously refine and optimize EUA’s BIM processes for plumbing systems, contributing to improved project timelines and quality outcomes.
  • Data Integrity and Accessibility: Maintain high standards for data integrity throughout the project, ensuring accurate plumbing information is accessible to all stakeholders.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Two- or four-year degree in Architectural Technology or Engineering Technology
  • Unlicensed / May pursue designer certification. CPDT preferred but not required.
  • 5-10+ years of experience with Revit and BIM tools in a plumbing context
  • Proficiency with Navisworks, Revit, Dynamo, and other relevant BIM software
  • Experience leading coordination meetings, performing clash detection, and resolving design conflicts
  • Knowledge of plumbing design principles, codes, and standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to mentor others on BIM/VDC processes related to plumbing
  • Has a proactive approach to projects and problem solving and can self-direct project work, tasks, and process improvements
  • Assists in on-site observation and documentation

Pay Range

Pay range for this position is $70,000 to $95,000 depending on experience.
