About the role

Comfort Systems USA Shoffner is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Entry-Level BIM Designer to join our MEP subcontracting team. This is an excellent opportunity to start a hands-on career in BIM with real-world construction experience in the field of MEP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation and modification of 3D MEP models using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD MEP, or other BIM tools.
  • Support coordination efforts by collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other trades to identify and resolve clashes using tools like Navisworks or Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Generate accurate construction documents, shop drawings, and as-built models from BIM data.
  • Follow project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and adhere to internal modeling standards and LOD (Level of Development) requirements.
  • Perform basic quantity take-offs or assist in generating a bill of materials based on model data.
  • Support field teams by providing accurate and coordinated model information and supply layout points for use in the Robotic Total Station.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Drafting/Design Technology, or a related field is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD MEP (required).
  • Understanding of building systems, especially mechanical ductwork, piping, electrical layouts, or plumbing systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP construction drawings and specifications.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt and work as a team in a fast-paced construction environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience or certification in MEP or BIM modeling is preferred.
  • Internship or academic project experience in MEP or BIM modeling is preferred.
  • Familiarity with clash detection tools (e.g., Navisworks Manage) is preferred.
  • Exposure to fabrication-level detailing or coordination meetings is preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD MEP, or similar BIM tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP construction drawings and specifications.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced construction environment.
