Bim Designer
Actalent is seeking a BIM Designer to lead BIM modeling, design, and drafting activities with a focus on Revit, supporting complex healthcare and data center projects.
About the role
This role coordinates and manages Revit models, performs clash detection, develops complete system designs, and ensures the accuracy and constructability of construction documents. The BIM Designer will create and maintain Revit families, follow standardized workflows and checklists, and provide regular progress updates to project teams while contributing to continuous improvement and training initiatives.
The position supports a design-build environment focused on metal framing and structural support systems for healthcare and data center projects. The primary office is in Addison, IL, with a hybrid schedule of four days in the office and one day remote. Projects are located across the United States, and the role involves collaboration with distributed teams in Tampa, FL, and Arizona.
Responsibilities
- Develop complete system designs in Revit and CAD for customer projects (90% Revit, 10% CAD).
- Coordinate and manage Revit models across multiple projects to ensure consistency, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements.
- Perform BIM modeling and clash detection using Revit and Navisworks to identify and resolve conflicts before construction.
- Create, modify, and update Revit families to support project-specific needs and maintain a robust content library.
- Draft and prepare construction documents that clearly communicate design intent and support field installation.
- Review all work for errors, mistakes, accuracy, and constructability prior to releasing deliverables as complete.
- Create, maintain, and follow standard work procedures and checklists to ensure quality and consistency across every project.
- Provide prompt and accurate progress status reports to supervisors and project team members.
- Independently execute assignments, accurately identify product specifications, and ensure designs align with overhead structural support requirements.
- Identify training opportunities and areas for improvement based on day-to-day project experience.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and details, adapting designs to align with project constraints and field conditions.
- Manipulate and adapt files created by others, integrating external models and documents into coordinated BIM workflows.
- Extract quantities from 3D models to support estimating, planning, and prefabrication efforts.
- Collaborate closely with BIM resources in multiple locations to support healthcare, data center, and special projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4+ years of professional Revit experience, including modeling and BIM workflows.
- Minimum of 4+ years of modeling experience in a BIM environment.
- Minimum of 2+ years of Navisworks experience, including clash detection and model coordination.
- Strong proficiency in BIM modeling, clash detection, and construction document development.
- Experience with AutoCAD for design and drafting tasks.
- Experience working in a construction environment and/or in the structural steel or MEP industry (AEC) preferred.
- Knowledge of basic construction processes and procedures, specifically overhead systems and structural grid support systems.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, details, and specifications.
- Capability to manipulate, adapt, and integrate files and models created by others.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using BIM 360 and Bluebeam in a project delivery environment.
- Ability to perform 3D model quantity extraction for project planning and estimating.
- AS, BS, or MS degree in Engineering, AEC disciplines (Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Computer Science), Architecture, or a similar building design profession.
Preferred Qualifications
- Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) in Revit certification.
- Experience with healthcare projects, including hospital and surgical center renovations and medical infrastructure support systems.
- Experience with data center or large-scale industrial projects, including ground-up construction and complex infrastructure.
- Familiarity with off-site manufacturing and prefabrication concepts and workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and constructability in design deliverables.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed project teams.
- Interest in career growth paths such as BIM leadership, project engineering, project management, or data center specialization.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $43.27 per hour.

Schedule
This is a hybrid position based in Addison, IL, with a schedule of four days in the office and one day remote. The role is fully onsite in Addison, IL.
