BIM Designer

About the role

In this position you will oversee all BIM work on selected projects, assisting Senior BIM Designers, Engineers, and other project team members with the development of 3D models and 2D contract documents using REVIT and AutoCAD. The role focuses on delivering project outputs for Water, Wastewater, Green Infrastructure, and Resiliency Projects.

As a Mid-Level BIM Designer, you will supervise project staff and processes related to BIM implementation for project controls, coordinate the complete model life-cycle (3D model development and integration), review and validate construction models including clash detection, and develop project Navisworks federated models.

You will support project teams by extracting and formatting information from virtual models throughout the project lifecycle, including using models and visualizations for presentations and reporting construction progress. The role requires solid knowledge of construction practices, sequencing, and experience developing construction documents such as coordinated plans, sections, details, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee BIM work on assigned projects
• Assist Senior BIM Designers, Engineers, and project team members with 3D model and 2D contract document development using REVIT and AutoCAD
• Develop project deliverables for Water, Wastewater, Green Infrastructure, and Resiliency Projects
• Supervise project staff and processes for BIM implementation and project controls
• Coordinate processes for complete model life-cycle development and functionality (3D model development and integration)
• Review and validate construction models, including clash detection
• Develop project Navisworks federated models
• Provide and format information from virtual models for project teams throughout the project lifecycle
• Utilize models and visualizations for presentations and construction progress reporting
• Develop construction documents including coordinated plans, sections, details, and specifications

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• 5 years of experience with extensive understanding of model development procedures and VDC functionality for design and construction
• Solid knowledge of construction practices and sequencing
• Experience developing construction documents

Skills

• Understanding of 3D models for visualization and 4D models linked to project schedules for simulation
• Experience developing BIM execution plans and using document-sharing platforms (e.g., BIM 360, SharePoint)
• Ability to work independently with senior review
• Proficiency with Navisworks, Point Cloud, Holobuilder, and Bluebeam (preferred)
• Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp (knowledge of Bentley, ArchiCAD, SolidWorks, Synchro Pro is a plus)

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,000 – $110,000. Actual salaries will vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
