Brief Overview
The BIM & Design Coordination Lead at Improve Group is responsible for leading BIM coordination efforts across multiple disciplines, ensuring architectural, structural, MEP, and specialty trade models are fully integrated. This role supports the development and maintenance of project-specific BIM Execution Plans, standards, and workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific BIM Execution Plans, standards, and workflows.
- Facilitate model coordination meetings, driving resolution of design conflicts and assigning follow-up actions.
- Identify, prioritize, and resolve model clashes while balancing constructability, schedule, and project objectives.
- Serve as the primary BIM subject matter expert (SME) for project teams, providing guidance, troubleshooting, and technical support.
- Establish and enforce company BIM standards, naming conventions, templates, and quality control procedures.
- Review BIM models for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and firm standards.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and owners throughout all phases of design and construction.
- Mentor and develop Design Professionals, helping elevate technical proficiency across the organization.
- Optimize workflows to improve model efficiency, collaboration, and project delivery.
- Produce and maintain coordinated models suitable for design documentation, visualization, quantity takeoffs, fabrication, and construction.
- Manage model federation and coordination using tools such as Autodesk.
- Evaluate new BIM technologies, automation opportunities, and best practices to continuously improve organizational capabilities.
- Communicate technical BIM concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Construction/Construction Management, Environmental Design, Interior Architecture, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience within architecture, design, visualization, or related industry experience required.
- Familiarity rendering software such as Lumion, Enscape, Twinmotion is preferred.
- Familiarity with prefabrication, modular construction, digital fabrication techniques, or Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) processes is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in Revit required.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative communication tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to contribute within a fast-paced design environment while continuing to develop technical and professional skills.
- Curious mindset with willingness to learn and contribute across multiple project types.
Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen authorized to work in the United States.
- Clean driving record with proof of insurance and valid driver's license.
- Ability to gain access to DoD facilities (required).
