BIM Coordinator / VDC Coordinator
Position Location: Remote - work from anywhere in the United States. Must be located near a major airport.
Travel Requirements: Up to 5% domestic travel. Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to rent vehicles.
About the Role
The BIM Coordinator will support the MEP Engineers and coordinate across various groups. The scope of work will involve both small and large-scale mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection projects. This person will be responsible for managing BIM-related technologies, processes, support, and training. The BIM Coordinator will receive general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. May work independently or under immediate supervision and may serve as trade lead on routine projects of limited scope.
Responsibilities
- Training, Mentoring, and Standards Development (40%)
- Train production staff and contribute to organizational training and standards development
- Provide technical orientation to new hires regarding BIM tools
- Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use and training
- Research, understand, and incorporate standards from clients when required for a given project
- Develop and manage DLB Revit templates, policies, standards, and procedures in conjunction with other Revit users at DLB
- Manage and maintain a comprehensive Revit training program using both online resources and in-house materials
- Mentor associates and assist with training and development to create a learning and growing environment
- Continuous review of design package software, ensuring compatibility and functionality with the network and ensures accurate licensing
- Ongoing monitoring of the AEC production software industry to keep on top of latest developments including the implementation/integration path of updates/upgrades/augments for DLB
- Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM Revit
- Workflow Coordination / Project Interface (30%)
- Act as liaison between project managers/lead engineers and production staff and assist in workload delegation and coordination of resources
- Provide quality control for completeness and adherence to company standards of production
- Monitor work products produced by staff to ensure Revit standards are maintained within project models
- Assign tasks and provide technical guidance to other production personnel, including scheduling of work assignments
- Assist project teams in BIM project setup
- Develop Revit families in response to project need
- Resolve BIM design issues
- Manage and distribute coordinated digital documents to the project team
- Production of Revit Documents (25%)
- Assist on project work – modeling and detailing
- Utilize Revit software to assist on project work – modeling and detailing to prepare drawings and visual aids
- Collect data and other information for construction documents
- Prepare project design and construction documents
- Work as part of the engineering team and interact closely with the project management team
- Reporting (5%)
- Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Report on production staff hours and availability
- Manage personal hours using company tools
- Completion of assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements

- Knowledge of training and adult learning methodologies
- Advanced knowledge of Revit
- Knowledge of engineering design principles
- Knowledge of producing industry-standard work products (e.g., construction drawings) for engineering systems in buildings
- Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
- Skilled at using learning strategies by selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things
- Skilled at active listening, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
- Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others
- Ability to manage production of multiple drawings/projects at the same time
- Ability to work with engineers and design team to incorporate MEP design concepts into Revit and the ability to understand all parts of engineering construction documents

Qualifications
- Degree in engineering, construction, or related discipline
- One to three years of experience producing construction documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Minimum of three years of experience producing construction documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD

Pay
The pay range for this role is $78,500 - $105,000 USD per year.
