Billing Specialist (Collector)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join our team at Agave Ridge. We are dedicated to changing how care is delivered by bringing together passionate, highly skilled, and motivated individuals like you.

Responsibilities

• Request and process all bills to third party payors and patients, maximizing reimbursement of services provided to achieve hospital goals.
• Accurately and timely data entry of charges, payments, adjustments, and other transactions to patient accounts, including both insurance and patient billing for charges incurred.
• Timely follow-up to insurance companies on billing submitted to ensure an effective and efficient cash flow of hospital receivables.
• Record both Accounts Receivable (A/R) and miscellaneous cash, prepare bank deposits, and post cash and adjustments to patient records as required.
• Balance A/R and maintain supporting reports as per department policy.
• Retrieve and perform electronic billing to insurance companies in a timely manner.
• Make follow-up calls to insurance companies and guarantors as required.
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Addition college course work is preferred.
• Three years of business office experience, preferably in a hospital or medical office, is required.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Knowledge of healthcare billing and coding standards.

• Proficient in electronic health record systems.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
