Billing Specialist (Collector)

About the role

Coachella Valley Behavioral Health is a newly established inpatient facility in Indio, California, offering clinically excellent treatment for adults dealing with mental health concerns and substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Request and process all bills to third party payors and patients, maximizing reimbursement of services provided to achieve hospital goals.
• Responsible for accurate and timely data entry of charges, payments, adjustments and other transactions to patient accounts, including both insurance and patient billing for charges incurred.
• Timely follow-up to insurance companies on billing submitted to ensure an effective and efficient cash flow of hospital receivables.
• Record both A/R and miscellaneous cash, prepare bank deposits, and post cash and adjustments to patient records as required.
• Balance A/R and maintain supporting reports as per department policy.
• Retrieve and perform electronic billing to insurance companies in a timely manner.
• Make follow-up calls to insurance companies and guarantors as required.
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Additional college course work is preferred.
• Three years of business office experience, preferably in a hospital or medical office, is required.
