About the role
The Finance Department within Monroe County's Human Services Department is seeking a full-time Billing Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Submit medical claims to insurance companies and other source payers
- Financially interview consumers or guardians to verify eligibility and benefit coverage
- Prepare, review, and enter insurance claim information for claims submittal
- Communicate with insurance companies regarding unpaid or rejected claims and rebilling
Requirements
- An Associate’s degree in accounting or related field
- Four years’ work experience in medical bookkeeping/billing for Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, or private insurance
- Desired: Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Helpful: Accounting software knowledge
Qualifications
Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired will also be considered.
