About the role
The Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in managing client invoices and supporting attorneys and legal staff. This position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Edit prebills to facilitate time and disbursement transfers, time splits, on account transfers, time adjustments, and disbursement adjustments.
- Print, sort, and distribute prebills to billing attorneys for review.
- Create drafts and finalize computerized invoices and forward them to attorneys for further edits.
- Maintain client billing addresses, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Enter exemptions for billing necessary by the billing cutoff date and monitor their status through month-end.
- Manage and approve write-offs and monthly exemptions for billing.
- Input and update alternate rates in the computer system accurately and efficiently.
- Provide attorneys and legal support staff with requested billing statistics using Excel spreadsheets.
- Communicate effectively with attorneys to meet billing deadlines and resolve issues promptly.
- Participate in monthly check-in meetings with the billing manager to update on Work in Progress and troubleshoot as needed.
- Respond to internal and external client inquiries in a timely manner and seek feedback and follow-up as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of Law Firm Billing experience.
- Previous Aderant/CMS experience is preferred.

Pay
Compensation is dependent on several factors, including position, location, market, education, training, and experience.
