Billing Specialist
Pain Specialists of America (“PSA” or “Company”) is a Texas-based, multisite comprehensive pain management company with over 20 locations, three ASCs, and a CLIA-certified laboratory in New Braunfels. PSA is growing rapidly and seeks extremely competent, talented professionals to support the business and help achieve its strategic objectives.
About the role
The Patient Account Receivable Specialist (“Specialist”) must demonstrate an absolute commitment to excellence, respect, and delivery of the highest quality patient care while maintaining all technical standards to meet continuous quality improvement needs, financial, and delivery requirements.
The position requires a strong medical business office background with familiarity with insurance companies, including government payors. The Specialist must have an in-depth knowledge of the revenue cycle process, including patient statements, patient account management, and accounts receivable follow-up. The qualified candidate will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals as discussed with their manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage a payor portfolio, including processing patient statements and all requested information from patients.
- Take appropriate action to secure outstanding patient payments.
- Follow up on outstanding patient balances, including monitoring statements, contacting patients to establish payment arrangements, reviewing accounts for external collections, and adhering to the collection process.
- Answer billing calls, assist patients with account inquiries, and provide resolution.
- Serve as a resource for front desk personnel and assist with questions related to patient billing and collections.
Requirements
- High School diploma.
- Minimum of four years’ work experience in a medical business office setting.
- Minimum of one-year work experience in medical billing.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of medical billing terminology and concepts related to billing.
- Coding certification preferred.
