Billing Specialist

About the Role

Join North Florida Outpatient Imaging Center, part of HCA Healthcare, the nation's leading provider of healthcare services. This role supports daily account and center activities, ensuring efficient billing operations and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Report daily account and center activities to the center director.
• Analyze and report trends (both negative and positive) with accounts to the director.
• Monitor progress of each department to ensure aged receivables are worked systematically on a daily basis.
• Monitor data input for accuracy, including demographics, charges, adjustments, and credits.
• Contact insurance carriers by phone for claim status and resolve deficiencies for payment release when other billing efforts are exhausted.
• Respond in a timely manner to all insurance and patient correspondence.
• Manage collection letters for past due accounts.
• Review aging of A/R monthly and recommend accounts for write-off to bad debt per policy.
• Monitor productivity of billing employees and establish productivity goals with the director.
• Audit activities to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and billing policies.
• Complete all required filing of documentation in a timely and organized manner.
• Perform end-of-month closing activities, including generating account receivable and operational reports.
• Aggressively collect accounts receivables and establish or achieve cash targets.
• Process daily billing system backups.
• Perform other related functions as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED (required).
• 2 years of related experience (required or preferred).

Skills

• Demonstrated communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to organize work, use computers, and multitask.
• General knowledge of automated medical billing procedures, ICD-9 coding, and CPT codes.
• Ability to understand accounts receivable and related financial reports for accurate revenue and statistical data reporting.
