About the role
We are seeking a Billing Specialist to join our Revenue Services department. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and efficient operation of our billing system, while adhering to regulatory guidelines and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Processes all billing data and performs billing operations for all customers in accordance with established regulatory guidelines, Sarbanes/Internal Controls and Schedules.
- Handles and enters various Miscellaneous, Real Estate, Service Billing Invoice requests, Cross Connection and Receptor Surveys through billing applications.
- Reconciles the Revenue System to the G/L system monthly and explains any variances while maintaining regulatory guideline and Sarbanes/Internal Controls.
- Provides statistical reports and analysis of the CIS billing system.
- Plans and coordinates the daily flow of data between the regions meter reading activities and the billing system while communicating with Field Service and Customer Account Representatives.
- Provides reports and data to various towns, outside agencies, and internal customers for sewer reporting, billing, and other consumption data on a monthly, quarterly or annually basis.
- Maintains billing data accuracy, establishes and adheres to audit procedures.
- Participates in system documentation and internal training materials for billing processes.
- Supports testing of new programs, billing rate changes, new procedures, and new billing systems.
- Serves as a point of contact for identifying, analyzing, resolving, and implementing the correction process for various problems.
Requirements
- Average of 3 to 5 years of experience in Utility Billing/CIS System Applications.
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
- Understanding of complex billing rates and billing applications.

Pay
Compensation Type: Hourly Wage
Compensation Range: Grade 4 - Hourly $ 27.34 - 43.76
