Billing Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and submits claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper.
  • Responsible for daily account follow up.
  • Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies.
  • Researches and resolves credit balances, missing payments, and unposted cash as appropriate.
  • Responds and maintains correspondence.
  • Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicates appropriately with insurance companies, patients, co-workers and supervisors.
  • Solves insurance claim rejections/denials and remedies expediently.
  • Maintains minimum productive standards and assists with departmental coverage as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of (1) one year experience in a medical setting, data entry of hospital and clinical financial system preferred.
  • Formal training of college coursework in lieu of experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of insurance processes, collection procedures and regulations preferred.
  • Knowledge of computers.
  • Knowledge of business office procedures.
  • Must be proficient in 10 - key by touch and keyboarding skills.

Pay

$21.06 - $27.50 per hour
