Position Summary: Obtains insurance information, referral forms, and counsels patients on financial assistance over the phone or by email. Schedules and coordinates patient appointments over the phone or by email, with no patient contact.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Obtains insurance information from patients and counsels alternative ways for financial assistance.
  • Communicates with physicians and clinical staff to assist with scheduling urgent or referred patient scheduling calls/requests.
  • Reviews schedule for new patients, updating when necessary.
  • Calls patients with appointment time reminders, obtaining insurance information and referral forms.
  • Explains billing process to patients, answers incoming inquiries from patients and third-party payers.
  • Affords assistance to staff with sending out reminder cards and other scheduling duties; assists with basic account maintenance activities.
  • Works with patient reminder system results and contacts patients or makes scheduling changes.

Job Location/Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Physical Effort: Typically sitting at desk or table. Equipment: Office equipment.

Education

Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
