About the Opportunity
The Billing Representative role is responsible for managing patient insurance coverage information to ensure accurate billing and claims processing. This position supports clinical and IT teams by resolving insurance-related issues and helps improve workflow efficiency within managed care functions. The role contributes to the accuracy and effectiveness of insurance verification and billing processes, directly affecting patient care and organizational operations.
Responsibilities
- Verify and update patient insurance coverage through portals, real-time eligibility checks, or carrier contact
- Aid clinical and IT staff with insurance coverage inquiries
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and propose improvements
- Respond to email requests related to insurance coverage and account updates
- Resolve coverage and claim issues within assigned systems
- Notify management of recurring issues or trends
- Review and interpret insurance explanations of benefits and remittance advices
- Escalate complex issues to management as needed
- Collaborate with team members and other departments
- Complete additional projects assigned by management
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 18 years of age
- At least one year of recent medical billing experience
- Proficient with Windows-based programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Flexibility to work full-time Monday through Friday within business hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm Pacific Time, with occasional overtime
- Reside within the Pacific Time Zone
- Ability to secure sensitive information and maintain a dedicated, private workspace
- Access to a high-speed internet connection approved by the organization
Preferred
- Knowledge of EPIC-PB Resolute software
- Understanding of the full revenue cycle
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective time management
Pay Range and Compensation Package
Hourly pay range from $18 to $32 based on full-time employment. Additional compensation includes a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401(k) contribution, subject to eligibility.
