About the role

Exagen is a patient-focused and discovery-driven life sciences company dedicated to transforming the care continuum for patients suffering from debilitating and chronic autoimmune diseases. Our goal is to enable rheumatologists to improve care for patients through the differential diagnosis, prognosis, and monitoring of complex autoimmune and autoimmune-related diseases, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. The Billing Project Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the organization's billing practices comply with industry regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage billing-related projects from initiation to completion, including developing project plans, timelines, and objectives.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
  • Evaluate existing billing processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct data analysis to identify billing discrepancies and resolve them.
  • Implement process enhancements to optimize billing operations.
  • Manage all aspects of the provider enrollment and credentialing process, including initial applications, re-credentialing, and maintaining provider information in all necessary systems.
  • Accurately complete payor enrollment requests in a timely manner.
  • Follow-up on enrollments in-process (online, telephone, email) and maintain enrollment records through timely documentation.
  • Ensure billing practices comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Perform audits and quality checks on billing data and documents.
  • Address compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of billing-related projects and activities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on project status and outcomes.
  • Communicate project updates and findings to management and stakeholders.
  • Provide training and support to billing staff on new processes and systems.
  • Offer guidance and assistance to resolve billing-related inquiries and issues.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in billing.
  • Collaborate with finance, accounting, and other departments to achieve project goals.
  • Foster effective communication and teamwork among cross-functional teams.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as delegated.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in billing, revenue cycle management, or project management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of billing software and systems (e.g., billing software, ERP systems).
  • Understanding of healthcare billing regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.

Pay

$30/hr - $35/hr
