Responsibilities

• Assesses, tracks, and collects patient account balances.
• Affirm eligibility for billing purposes.
• Performs insurance and billing functions including verifying patient account information to insurance program specifications.
• Follow-up on balances due from Payers.
• Understand ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Perform electronic billing function, process charges, payments, denials, and adjustments.
• Resolve insurance denials.
• Work closely with the Community Health Worker (CHW) team to assure accurate and timely billing for Presumptive Medicaid, Newborn pending and Temporary Medicaid for Pregnant Women.
• Attain all agreed goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the Clinic’s overall mission.
• Respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.
• Follow the Clinic Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Some math, accounting, ICD-10, and an understanding of patient care skills preferred.
• Two years’ medical office reimbursement experience.
