About the role
The Billing Director will oversee the billing functions of the business unit, manage the billing staff, and ensure accurate and timely processing of all billings. This is a remote/hybrid position based in Loma Linda, CA.
Responsibilities
- Daily management of the billing functions
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures
- Provide administrative oversight and direct management of the billing staff
- Prioritize and manage the daily workload to ensure equitable distribution of work is maintained
- Work closely with operations and collections teams to ensure accuracy of billing information and support documentation for collection efforts
- Focus on continuous improvement in efficiency and accuracy through automation of processes
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure accuracy of billing
- Manage the organizational structure and staffing for the billing team
- Maintain systematic, accurate, and timely processing of all billings including, but not limited to, paper invoicing, electronic invoicing, provider vouchering and adjustments
- Oversee report and billing processing and serve in accordance with Company, customer, and jurisdictional requirements
- If applicable, ensure all invoicing is billed daily and in accordance with company practices and client contract agreements
- Perform any follow-up on provider bills not received in a timely manner to decrease invoicing delays
- Work closely with internal and external sources to facilitate, manage and monitor electronic billing functions as required by the business unit
- Research and respond to inquiries from clients or consultants regarding invoices, and voucher inquiries
- Report any unresolved disputes with physicians or vendors to upper management for resolution
- Prepare and ensure accurate timely completion of month end, quarterly and year end reporting requirements
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all financial files
- Perform a variety of clerical duties including, but not limited to, answering telephone inquiries, taking messages, filing, scanning and photocopying
- Perform other duties as assigned by upper management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business-related field required
- Minimum of three years' experience in billing and collections preferred
- Billing and coding certifications desired
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, decimals, fractions, hours & minutes, and possess the ability to compute rates and percentages
- Proficient in multiple software programs, including, but not limited to, Great Plains, Microsoft Suite, Outlook, electronic billing clearing houses and the Internet
- Demonstrate a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
- Look for ways to improve and promote quality and monitor own work to ensure quality is met

- Ability to follow all company policies and procedures in effect at time of hire and as they may change or be added from time to date
