Provides department leadership ensuring accurate matter rate and discount setup, timekeeper proposals, new timekeeper rate setup, rate updates, and working timekeeper lists while maintaining workflow to meet monthly billing goals and deadlines. Fosters team building, collaboration, and cooperation among Billing Compliance personnel and across departments. Plans and leads office hours, staff meetings, and manages training, coaching, and team development.
Responsibilities
- Oversees all compliance activity to ensure tasks are completed accurately and timely, including hands-on processing when necessary.
- Answers questions and provides solutions to timekeeper, discount, and rate issues.
- Delegates work based on volume, complexity, and priority.
- Provides input on compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Supports training on procedures and technology for the Compliance Team.
- Coaches and mentors Compliance team to improve morale and team spirit.
- Ensures the firm’s core values are reflected in compliance staff.
- Promotes positive communication to improve the working environment.
- Provides input on annual training and the ARR process, ensuring deadlines are met and rate changes are processed accurately.
- Supports recruiting new Compliance Specialists as needed.
- Leads the team to deliver high-quality customer service to clients, coworkers, billing attorneys, and employees.
- Provides insight on mid-year and annual evaluations.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or a related field and/or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a management/supervisory capacity.
- Experience with BillBlast and client vendor websites.
- Previous law firm experience preferred.
- Excellent planning, organization, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to present and persuade based on issue analysis.
- High-level computer skills, including proficiency in Aderant (Billing System Software), Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, practice assistants, and management.
Pay
The pay range for this remote position varies by location as follows:
- California: $87,604 to $132,818
- Colorado: $92,997 to $120,349
- Connecticut: $97,682 to $126,412
- Illinois: $97,682 to $126,412
- Jersey City, New Jersey: $126,412 to $132,818
- Nevada: $84,864 to $109,824
- Maryland: $87,604 to $132,818
- Massachusetts: $102,632 to $132,818
- Minnesota: $87,604 to $113,370
- New Jersey: $126,412 to $132,818
- New York City, New York: $102,632 to $132,818
- New York State: $102,632 to $132,818
- Ohio: $84,864 to $109,824
- Rhode Island: $84,864 to $109,824
- Washington, D.C.: $97,682 to $126,412
- Washington (State): $97,682 to $126,412
Actual compensation is contingent on relevant experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors. This role is also eligible for performance-based bonuses.
