About the Role
Coordinates activities of workers engaged in conducting credit investigations and collecting delinquent accounts of customers by performing duties personally or through co-workers.
Responsibilities
- Scans payer remits to patient’s accounts for specified dates of service.
- Notates accounts in account comments from payer correspondence and/or remits, including reason for denial, nonpayment, and/or specifics.
- Researches patient balances relative to copay, coinsurance, and/or deductible.
- Assists with researching and pulling remits to work credit balances.
- Assists with payment and/or adjustment posting when necessary.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 1 year of medical billing experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions; deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, talk, hear, and smell.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Moderate noise level.
- Frequent exposure to chemicals, blood, and body fluids.
