Bill of Materials (BOM) Specialist

The Bill of Materials (BOM) Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and validating product structures and engineering documentation to support manufacturing operations.

  • Transform product design specification sheets into accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing working documents.
  • Maintain product structures and supporting documentation within ERP systems (e.g., MAPICS).
  • Develop and sustain documentation for replacement parts and e-commerce platforms.
  • Ensure engineering documents align with current manufacturing standards.
  • Audit new and existing product specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain engineering data integrity and ensure alignment with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Investigate, approve, process, and distribute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Cook up updates across systems and stakeholders to ensure accurate implementation of changes.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and other teams to support new product launches, facilities, and process improvements.
  • Provide training and guidance to global teams on BOM processes and systems.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, including parts standardization and engineering workflow enhancements.
  • Support departmental and cross-functional projects to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and participate actively in team meetings and training.
  • Provide backup support and assist in training other team members.
  • Complete special projects and additional assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration, Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in a business or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles.

Work Environment

  • Located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation.
  • May require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors.
  • May involve the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots.
  • Fast-paced environment involving time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations.
  • May include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
