Responsible for transportation and visitation support of Supervised Visitation Services. Responsibilities

Transportation

  • Maintains a professional and safe environment in vehicles, ensuring passenger safety through seat belts, car seats, and child safety locks.
  • Creates a safe, non-traumatizing environment for parent-child contact that promotes healthy attachment.
  • Initiates and maintains culturally sensitive communication with families, considering language preferences, faith, and culture.
  • Communicates effectively with DCP&P, other providers, and supports.
  • Empowers families to communicate their goals and needs using culturally competent techniques.
  • Recognizes non-verbal communication and maintains professional demeanor (e.g., eye contact, posture).
  • Advocates for families and supports self-advocacy.
  • Operates from a trauma-informed perspective.
  • Maintains Transportation Signature Log and reports issues during pick-up/drop-off to supervisors.
  • Handles vehicle maintenance, including documentation, service appointments, cleaning, and timely reporting of issues.
  • Keeps accurate mileage logs and receipts.
  • Documents all transportation activities in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Additional Responsibilities

  • Greets program participants and covers front desk duties as needed.
  • Assists with maintaining a clean, safe visitation site and reports issues to management.
  • Collaborates with the Regional Coordinator on site needs.
  • Provides supervised visitation services and childcare as needed.
  • Prepares and confirms daily transportation schedules for pick-up/drop-off of clients.
  • Communicates schedule changes to program staff.
  • Assists with administrative tasks, such as transporting program supplies and inter-office mail.
  • Recognizes and reports signs of potential emergencies or safety risks involving clients/families.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with children and families, particularly those involved in the child welfare system or affected by trauma OR 30 semester hour credits from an accredited college, including 12 credits in behavioral sciences.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Valid New Jersey driver’s license, safe driving record, and access to a vehicle.

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Child welfare system, community resources, social services, and mental health systems.
  • Trauma and its effects on children and families.
  • Professional ethics and confidentiality.
  • Computer applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Local and highway roads in the county.

Skills and Abilities

  • Bilingual: English and Spanish or English and Haitian Creole.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document daily notes in an electronic health record.
  • Safe operation of a motor vehicle, adhering to traffic laws and passenger safety measures.
  • Comfort working with families from diverse backgrounds.

Pay

$45,000 - $47,500 annually.
