Bilingual Team Lead- 1st Shift
About the role
As a Bilingual Team Lead on the 1st shift, you will coordinate and oversee all operational activities in the warehousing, receiving, and shipping areas under the direction of the Operations Supervisor. You will mentor and train associates, ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, and maintain productivity and efficiency in daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Training:
- Mentor and train new and existing associates in distribution activities to meet customer demands.
- Train associates on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for shipping, receiving, picking, and quality control.
- Assist in forklift operation and certification for new and existing associates.
- Shipping/Receiving:
- Oversee unloading of inbound shipments, stacking of product, and picking/staging of outbound shipments.
- Verify inbound/outbound paperwork with drivers and ensure accurate product counts.
- Load orders efficiently and accurately according to doors and trailers.
- Research discrepancies in shipping and receiving processes.
- Customer Service:
- Maintain professional appearance and communication at all times.
- Communicate with customers via phone, electronically, or in person.
- Prepare accurate and efficient activity reports for site management.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure products and orders are received, shipped, and picked correctly using appropriate documentation.
- Verify products meet quality standards and report damages or discrepancies.
- Stack, package, shrink wrap, and label products according to SOPs.
- Report inconsistencies to the Operations Supervisor or Manager and participate in quality meetings.
- Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance:
- Comply with relevant ISO standards, safety protocols, and OSHA/MSDS standards.
- Promote safety in all job tasks and maintain warehouse cleanliness.
- Participate in safety meetings.
- Labor Management:
- Direct warehouse work teams to achieve productivity objectives.
- Assist associates with productivity sheets and accurate capture of production/payroll hours.
- Assist in maintaining a productive workforce and establishing work schedules.
- Ensure associates handle products according to quality procedures.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate equipment such as sit-down, stand-up, and reach trucks, sweeper scrubbers, scissor lifts, cherry pickers, Aisle Masters, or pallet jacks.
- Perform daily inspections and minor maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain active forklift certification.
- Maintenance:
- Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
- Other Duties:
- Perform clerical and administrative tasks as needed (e.g., answering phones, scheduling, filing).
- Work evenings and weekends as required.
- Work overtime as dictated by business needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 year of experience in logistics, distribution, or a relevant environment.
- Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures (mild to moderate).
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program.
Skills
- Language Skills:
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, verbal).
- Fluent in Spanish (reading, writing, verbal).
- Computer Skills:
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience with RF scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Mathematical Skills:
- Basic to intermediate math skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and handling product distribution.
- Other Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication with all levels of the organization.
- Adaptability to change and a fast-paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
- 2-4 years of proven forklift experience.
- Current or prior MHE certification.
Physical Demands
- Occasionally: Hand and finger manipulation, sitting, handling product/packaging materials.
- Frequently: Bending.
- Constantly: Walking and standing.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 21-50 pounds.
- Reach above shoulder, outward, squat, or kneel.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic, or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Pay
The expected base pay range for this position is $24–$25 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
