Schedule, plan and instruct
- Teach District and state approved curriculum in self-contained classrooms and small group settings.
- Teach lessons in English or a designated second language as needed.
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
- Conduct screenings to determine student eligibility.
- Review and interpret screening results.
- Set high expectations for students and hold them accountable for their academic work.
- Construct and conduct assessments to evaluate student progress.
- Maintain records of student work and develop intervention strategies.
Collaboration and Support
- Collaborate with other grade level or departmental teachers and support teachers to plan, accommodate, implement, and assess lessons and progress.
- Consult, provide advice, and offer in-service to staff on issues related to Bilingual education.
- Participate on various building and District teams or committees.
- Act as a liaison to other building staff.
Professional Development and School Improvement
- Participate in staff development and school improvement activities to maintain professional growth.
- Plan and incorporate best practices or new strategies into teaching methods.
Student and Parent Communication
- Communicate with parents and students on progress both verbally and in writing.
- Encourage parent involvement in monitoring student progress.
Policy Enforcement and Social Development
- Enforce and support school policies, philosophies, and objectives with students and parents.
- Ensure a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment.
- Act as a role model on appropriate behaviors to ensure social and emotional development is progressing normally.
Travel and Other Duties
- Travel between schools may be required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
