About the role

Provides Spanish instruction for students enabling them to learn and demonstrate mastery of the Georgia Performance Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Vertical teams with FCS Spanish Middle School feeder teacher
  • Advocates on the importance of the Spanish language in a global economy and provides unique study opportunities outside of the regular classroom setting
  • Teaches content-related and appropriate instruction based on Fulton County's curriculum
  • Maintains an active learning environment in the subject area
  • Uses performance-based instruction and assessment methods
  • Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
  • Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
  • Fulfills responsibilities when absent
  • Collaborates with other Fulton County Spanish teachers
  • Facilitates home-school communication through conferences, telephone calls, and written communications
  • Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
  • Avoids behaviors that detract from staff morale

Requirements

  • Must hold certification in Spanish or meet eligibility requirements to obtain certification
  • Must have passed the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Written Proficiency Test (WPT) at Advanced Low Proficiency level
  • Experience: 0-1 year classroom experience required; High School teaching experience preferred
