About the role
Provides Spanish instruction for students enabling them to learn and demonstrate mastery of the Georgia Performance Standards.
Responsibilities
- Vertical teams with FCS Spanish Middle School feeder teacher
- Advocates on the importance of the Spanish language in a global economy and provides unique study opportunities outside of the regular classroom setting
- Teaches content-related and appropriate instruction based on Fulton County's curriculum
- Maintains an active learning environment in the subject area
- Uses performance-based instruction and assessment methods
- Communicates responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership
- Accounts for student attendance and punctuality
- Fulfills responsibilities when absent
- Collaborates with other Fulton County Spanish teachers
- Facilitates home-school communication through conferences, telephone calls, and written communications
- Integrates appropriate technology into classroom instruction
- Avoids behaviors that detract from staff morale
Requirements
- Must hold certification in Spanish or meet eligibility requirements to obtain certification
- Must have passed the ACTFL Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Written Proficiency Test (WPT) at Advanced Low Proficiency level
- Experience: 0-1 year classroom experience required; High School teaching experience preferred
