About the role

As a Transitional Foster Care (TFC) Teacher, you will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in a preschool, elementary, or secondary learning environment. This role guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential by providing educational services, assessments, and curriculum that meet Foundational Rule standards. You will deliver child-facing services on-site while adhering to agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare classrooms for activities and provide a variety of learning materials and resources.
• Utilize relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Manage student behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with program rules and systems.
• Maintain accurate records of students' progress, development, and academic performance.
• Observe and evaluate students' English language proficiency, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Conduct educational assessments and develop individualized instructional plans based on identified needs.
• Provide students with appropriate feedback on their work and adjust teaching strategies based on progress.
• Participate in school activities, staff meetings, and treatment team meetings.
• Communicate student progress, concerns, or needs to lead case managers, clinicians, and foster parents.
• Update all necessary records accurately and completely in alignment with contractual requirements.
• Supervise children during field trips and in the classroom.
• Report safety concerns, suspected abuse, neglect, trafficking indicators, self-harm, or other mandatory reporting issues.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Attend internal and external trainings and apply newly gained knowledge on the job.
• Participate in agency-sponsored donor engagement events as required.
• Drive for agency business, including assisting with offsite field trips.
• Perform other special assignments at the supervisor’s request.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field from an accredited college.
• Minimum of 1 year of prior employment experience teaching English Language Learning (ELL)/English as a Second Language (ESL).
• Minimum of 1 year of prior employment experience working with children and families from diverse cultures.
• Bilingual Spanish/English fluency is required.
• Valid certification in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) or equivalent accreditation.
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
• Ability to work with students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
• Flexibility and creativity in a diverse work setting.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Highly motivated and self-managed with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a good driving record with zero work restrictions.
• Personal auto insurance with minimum bodily injury coverage limits of $250,000 per person/$500,000 per incident or $500,000 combined.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
• Documentation proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route.
• Must submit to agency-approved background checks.

Work environment

This position is primarily office-based but may require travel to other agency locations as needed. The role is on-site with regular, full-time attendance required; remote or hybrid work is not available, though ad hoc or situational telework may be needed. The position may be exposed to typical office noise levels and various weather conditions.

Pay

$49,674.00–$58,440.00 annually.
