About the role

This position involves developing and implementing lesson plans that align with the district's curriculum program, presenting lessons that accommodate different learning styles, and teaching within the prescribed course of study.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations for student learning styles.
  • Teach subject matter according to guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustees, and administrative regulations.
  • Establish efficient classroom management procedures and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  • Evaluate students' progress and report to parents as required.
  • Plan and coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessionals.
  • Participate in the development of evaluation systems for the principal.
  • Interpret educational programs to the community through activities like open houses and PTA meetings.
  • Provide counseling services to students and parents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with required subject and subject level endorsements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Knowledge of various routine tasks, duties, and procedures.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing world.
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest developments in the profession.

Qualifications

  • Understand and plan lessons leading to subject area objectives.
  • Assume responsibility for written lesson plans for substitutes.
  • Use a variety of media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
  • Identify pupil needs and collaborate with other professionals to assist students.
  • Keep accurate records and compile, maintain, and file all required reports and documents.
