About the role

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a Bilingual Research Assistant II to support engagement with community members and research participants, with a focus on recruitment, retention, high-quality data collection, and meaningful community partnership. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with diverse communities, including Spanish-speaking and underserved populations.

Responsibilities

The Bilingual Research Assistant II will support the day-to-day conduct and continuous improvement of research studies focused on healthy lifestyle behaviors in children and families. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing IRB-approved protocols and coordinating activities across clinics, community organizations, and academic partners
  • Recruiting and enrolling families, obtaining informed consent/assent in English and Spanish, and administering surveys and structured interviews
  • Ensuring high-quality, participant-centered interactions throughout the research process and maintaining accurate and timely documentation of all procedures
  • Collaborating closely with clinic staff, nutritionists, social workers, and study leadership to schedule visits, align workflows, and troubleshoot routine procedural issues

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 2 years of pediatric experience, with a focus on working with children ages 5-17 and their families
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision, and follow protocols precisely in community settings

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research and community engagement, with experience working with diverse populations. They will be culturally responsive, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
