About the role

The Patient Support Representative (PSR) receives incoming phone calls for clinic appointments from patients, nursing staff, and physicians. Responsible for the complete and accurate processing of appointment scheduling, pre-registration, insurance verification, and pre-authorization.

Responsibilities

• Process appointment scheduling, pre-registration, insurance verification, and pre-authorization
• Handle incoming phone calls from patients, nursing staff, and physicians

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• 1 year healthcare experience
• 1 year customer service experience
• Prior experience in a healthcare front desk or call center setting
• Insurance training and demonstrated experience using insurance portals for eligibility verification and authorization
• Experience with appointment scheduling and patient registration workflows
• Bilingual English/Spanish
• Typing: 30 WPM
• Proficient with computers and related applications

Qualifications

• Above average verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional experience in a medical office, healthcare call center, patient access role, or in medical billing, coding, or authorization coordination

Physical Requirements

• May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods
• May include performing repetitive tasks
• May include working with challenging patients and clients
• May include lifting up to 25 pounds

Schedule

Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM (actual scheduled hours may vary depending on business needs).
