Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco’s homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

About the team

The Intake Specialist is part of the Compass Family Resource Center team. The Resource Center supports homeless and at-risk families through access to basic goods (diapers, food, clothing), service referrals, case management, job search support, drop-in childcare, and family-centered support groups and classes.

Responsibilities

• Welcome families as they arrive at Compass Family Services.
• Conduct initial assessment to understand their needs, provide information about available services, and guide them through their options within Compass Family Services and in the community.
• Screen families for eligibility across various programs, complete Navigation Forms during drop-in intakes, and provide direct referrals to connect families to resources.
• Collaborate with Office Manager/Receptionist to maintain smooth family flow within the building, ensuring they are directed to the appropriate program.
