About the role
The County of Sonoma is seeking a skilled professional to join the Human Services Department (HSD) as a Department Information Systems Specialist (DISS). This role provides direct technical support to end users, manages IT assets, and coordinates with the County's central IT department to ensure the smooth operation of hardware, software, and network systems across HSD locations.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals
- Manage IT asset inventory, including tracking, deployment, and surplus of equipment
- Coordinate with central IT on system upgrades, patches, and network infrastructure projects
- Assist in the development and maintenance of documentation for IT procedures and user guides
- Support end users with software applications, including Microsoft Office 365, enterprise case management systems, and other department-specific tools
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning related to IT systems
- Collaborate with HSD program staff to identify technology needs and recommend solutions
Requirements
- Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: experience in information systems support, including at least two years of experience providing technical support to end users in a multi-platform environment
- Possession of a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment
Qualifications
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking principles
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with IT asset management and inventory tracking
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Skills
- Proficiency with Windows and Mac operating systems
- Experience with Active Directory and user account management
- Familiarity with remote desktop support tools
- Basic understanding of network protocols and connectivity
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation
Pay
- $73,987.20 – $89,918.40 Annually

Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
