About the role
The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, ensuring accurate enrollment, compliance with applicable regulations, and a positive employee experience. This role serves as a key resource for employees regarding health, retirement, leave, and wellness benefits while partnering with Human Resources, payroll, and external vendors.
Responsibilities
- Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement, and wellness plans.
- Process new hire enrollments, qualifying life event changes, and benefit terminations.
- Maintain accurate employee benefits records within HRIS and benefits administration systems.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding eligibility, coverage, claims, and enrollment processes.
- Aid with annual open enrollment activities, including employee communications and system updates.
- Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and work with payroll to ensure accurate deductions.
- Collaborate with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators to resolve issues and maintain service levels.
- Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to employee benefits.
- Assist with leave administration, including FMLA, FAMLI, ADA accommodations, and other leave programs as applicable.
- Prepare reports, audits, and documentation related to benefits administration.
- Support the development and communication of benefits policies, procedures, and educational materials.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and organizational information.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Strong organizational skills and document control discipline.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Must be Bilingual.
- 2+ years of HR administrative experience, preferably in construction, engineering, or project-based industries.
- Working knowledge of labor compliance, payroll practices, and employment law.
- Experience with HRIS systems and benefits platforms.
