About the role

The EP Account Manager works under the direction of the Essential Plan (EP) Sales & Account Management and collaborates with the Business Development and Community Outreach teams. The role involves interfacing with New York Health Plan to increase marketing synergy and drive overall membership growth. Key responsibilities include establishing and nurturing strategic business relationships, presenting health plan information, and managing the sales pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Enroll eligible members in UHC Essential Plan
  • Build and foster relationships with key accounts (provider offices, pharmacies, CBOs, housing, etc.)
  • Present health plan information to providers, business advocates, potential eligible members, and related community institutions
  • Closing sales and providing excellent service to members
  • Lead pipeline management and meet or exceed sales and enrollment expectations
  • Conduct product information presentations in multiple settings, including in-home consultations
  • Track and measure various sales event effectiveness and activities, events, leads, and lead progress, sales, appointments, contacts, and relationship progress daily through internal systems
  • Provide input, support, and feedback on promotional opportunities, benefits, and other issues
  • Stay informed on UHC operations, provider network, premiums, member services, claims, explanation of benefits, processes, and other services and issues to provide community partners, prospects, and members with accurate information and provide feedback as appropriate
  • Manage multiple priorities including visiting provider offices on a regular basis and following up on leads in a timely fashion
  • Track and manage a schedule to keep appointments on time and information pertaining to those appointments in a timely manner
  • Input consumer demographics and interactions into company systems as appropriate
  • Perform other duties as required

Requirements

  • Marketplace Certified (Valid NYSOH Certified Application Counselor ID - CAC) in good standing or willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
  • 1+ years of business-to-business (B2B), Business to consumer (B2C) Direct marketing, outside sales or community outreach experience
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Willing and able to travel locally up to 100% of time within assigned sales territories in this NYC market area requiring reliable transportation or access to public transportation
  • Willing and able to work core business hours, Monday - Friday 8am-5pm and nights and weekends, when required
  • Reside within commuting distance to New York Metropolitan area
  • Bilingual English plus one or more of the following: Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin, Fuzhounese), Korean, South Asian - Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Punjabi, Tamil, Gujarati, Vietnamese, Filipino/Tagalog etc

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of business-to-business (B2B), Business to consumer (B2C) Direct marketing, outside sales or community outreach experience
  • Experience working with communities of all different ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, diverse populations and/or underserved communities
  • Previous outside sales and territory management experience
  • Valid driver's license, good driving history and current automobile insurance
  • Insured, dependable vehicle with current driver's license
  • Health & Accident Insurance license required (company-sponsored) state health/life insurance; or willing to obtain license within 30 days of hire
  • Established professional relationships with non-profits, community sources CBO's, religious/faith-based organizations FBO's in designated sales territory
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Essential Plan Marketplace marketing rules and regulations preferred, training in all lines of businesses will be provided
  • Previous outside sales and territory management experience
  • Act as a team player - work collaboratively with others (both inside the sales unit as well as outside) to achieve goals, relate to others in an open and accepting manner, keep others up to date on information they need, contribute ideas and support decisions made by the team and the organization, treat people with dignity and respect
