Bike Program Instructor - Community Youth
About the role
The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking part-time instructors for its innovative after-school watershed education program, Watershed Education by Bike (WEB).
Responsibilities
- Lead groups of 13 students in grades 5th-8th on program-owned bicycles through trails in Camden and Burlington Counties, NJ.
- Prepare and implement watershed and environmental education lessons/experiments with children grades K-8th in school-aged classroom settings.
- Establish relationships with local partners to support the WEB program.
- Facilitate environmental education lessons and activities at various after-school sites.
- Develop lessons based on provided resources.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a college degree preferred.
- Experience or strong interest in physical activity and environmental education is necessary.
- Willingness to travel throughout Camden City and Burlington and Camden counties is essential.
- A basic knowledge of bicycle mechanics and the ability to ride at 8-12 MPH are required.
- Strong classroom management, conflict resolution, and oral communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to work independently is expected.
