Bike Path Training Assistant
Bike New York is a vibrant 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to transform the lives of New Yorkers and strengthen communities—one ride at a time. We bring the joy and freedom of cycling to people of all ages through free, high-impact education programs, workforce development initiatives, dynamic public events, and deep partnerships with community groups and government agencies. We’re best known as the producer of America’s largest bike ride—the iconic TD Five Boro Bike Tour—which sends 32,000 cyclists on an unforgettable journey through all five boroughs on 40 miles of car-free streets.
About the role
Bike New York seeks a Bike Path Training Assistant to assist in facilitating bicycle mechanic training for our Bike Path Training Program for formerly incarcerated New Yorkers. Through a 3-week training program at our Bike Lab at Industry City, the Bike Path program provides formerly incarcerated and justice-involved New Yorkers with the skills to become professional bicycle mechanics. Upon completion of the program, all graduates are guaranteed an interview with Motivate for available bicycle mechanic positions to maintain the New York City Citi Bike fleets. Trainees learn how to maintain both traditional human-powered bicycles and both models of Citi Bike (non-ebike and ebike). The standard bicycle that trainees learn to maintain and fix is ultimately theirs to keep.
