Beverage Manager
About the Role
As the Beverage Manager, you will be responsible for developing an environment that creates excitement for internal and external guests. In this position, you will also assist outlets in wine and cocktail services. The Beverage Manager exercises good judgement in a variety of situations, utilizing strong written and verbal communication skills while balancing multiple competing priorities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver internal and external guest service the Nemacolin way, going above and beyond for associates or guests.
- Actively build and retain guest relations, mentoring other employees to provide superior guest service.
- Conduct monthly product inventory.
- Interview, train, and retain associates, including cocktail servers, bartenders, and sommeliers.
- Purchase supplies and authorize purchase orders within guidelines to ensure timely procurement.
- Plan and coordinate meetings, gathering, compiling, and organizing required information and creating presentation materials.
- Establish or create par levels and order guides for all items necessary for service.
- Create weekly schedules for associates and assist the management team with day-to-day operations.
- Complete critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, fostering a learning environment among the beverage team.
- Prioritize conflicting needs, handle matters expeditiously, and follow through on projects under deadline pressures.
- Gather and edit monthly reports, preparing final reports.
- Promote revenue growth, conduct weekly wine tastings, and complete a broad variety of other tasks.
- Use all required office equipment effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain excellent attention to detail and multitask in high-pressure situations.
- Compose, type, route, and file correspondence.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with external contacts and all levels of associates.
- Work under high-pressure situations while maintaining confidentiality.
- Review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
- Demonstrate independent and advanced decision-making for complex problems using critical thinking and analysis.
- Manage time effectively to accomplish numerous tasks and challenging priorities.
- Handle confidential information with discretion and tact.
- Utilize expert-level Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat skills.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of Beverage or Restaurant management experience.
- Ability to complete skill testing with near-perfect scores.
- Knowledge of and ability to operate Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
- Independently initiate, follow up on, and complete assignments and special projects.
- Knowledge of financial systems and proficiency with spreadsheet software.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to effectively perform multiple tasks.
- Ability to interface professionally with business contacts and customers.
- Demonstrated interpersonal sound judgment and decision-making skills.
- 3+ years of bartending experience.
These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a high school degree or equivalent, along with a minimum of 2-3 years of beverage or restaurant management experience. At least 3 years of bartending experience is preferred.
