About the role
The Beverage Bartender provides friendly, excellent service to every customer at the bar while preparing and pouring drinks for guests and servers. All duties are performed within Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies, procedures, and internal control standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare drinks with proper portions and ingredients.
- Mix drinks and collect payment from guests.
- Count bank at the beginning and end of shift, separating room charges and comp tickets; complete required paperwork.
- Take beverage orders from customers, requiring clear communication in English.
- Clean bar area, including wiping down surfaces and picking up trash.
- Restock supplies during slow periods, including lifting, bending, and reaching.
- Lift bar top (approximately 15 pounds) to enter/leave work area and access storage behind the bar.
- Work within a narrow space (approximately 4.5 feet wide) behind the bar.
- Address guests with a pleasant and professional demeanor at all times.
- Acquire knowledge of casino layout to provide directions as needed.
- Maintain a current understanding of information security policies, including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy.
- Provide exceptional customer service and communicate professionally with patrons, staff, and management.
- Meet attendance guidelines and adhere to all regulatory, departmental, and company policies.
- Complete all required SGC training programs within nine months of employment.
- Attend necessary meetings.
- Operate dishwasher to clean glasses and store them when clean.
- Prepare garnishes, including cutting and slicing fruit, as needed.
- Carry glass racks weighing approximately 10–15 pounds each.
- Keep bar stocked with beer, liquors, wines, and other supplies, including lifting, bending, and reaching.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years of previous bartending experience required.
- Previous customer service experience required.
- Knowledge of operating a cash register.
- Ability to operate equipment such as juice guns, soda guns, ice machines, mixers, pourers, knives, coffee machines, non-alcoholic frozen drink machines, and iced tea machines.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to write routine correspondence and speak effectively to the public, employees, and customers.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills; ability to interact diplomatically with customers and staff.
- Mathematical skills for counting banks and completing paperwork.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino for extended periods.
- Physical stamina to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift, bend, and reach, including carrying glass racks (10–15 pounds) and lifting bar tops (approximately 15 pounds).
- Work in a narrow space (approximately 4.5 feet wide) behind the bar.
- Noise levels range from moderately loud to loud, especially on the casino floor.
- Must be able to work in an environment where smoking is permitted.
Pay
Starting rate: $10.70 per hour. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and education.
