About the role

The BESS Project Management Consultant leads the planning, coordination, and execution of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from early-stage development through construction. This role drives cross-functional collaboration across development, engineering, estimating, supply chain, scheduling, and construction to deliver technically sound and financially viable projects. The consultant develops robust financial models, supports key commercial negotiations, and ensures projects transition smoothly into construction with clear, executable plans.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily project activities across internal and external resources to support development, engineering, estimating, supply chain, scheduling, and construction from pre-construction through the construction stage for BESS projects within the E&C business unit.
  • Manage highly matrixed project development teams to ensure resources focus on the right activities and deliverables to meet project schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate with environmental, regulatory, cultural, land acquisition, interconnection, and other project stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and compliant project development.
  • Develop and optimize the project's technical scope and key variables to enhance both technical feasibility and financial performance.
  • Support origination and development teams during PPA and GIA negotiations and ensure compliance with jurisdictional and permitting requirements.
  • Coordinate engineering, estimating, and procurement inputs to support the creation and refinement of financial models and project designs.
  • Actively research, gather, and leverage market data to ensure financial models are robust, realistic, and aligned with current market conditions.
  • Present financial models and key assumptions to relevant business units and guide them through executive budget review and approval processes.
  • Competitively source, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts for critical services, including geotechnical investigations, surveys, engineering services, and EPC/PC construction services.
  • Represent E&C interests on assigned projects and use various software applications to support project activities, manage critical data, and report on key performance indicators.
  • Communicate proactively with executive leadership, suppliers, regulatory agencies, local communities, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
  • Present project progress updates, risks, and mitigation strategies in meetings with various levels of management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure a seamless handover of projects transitioning to the construction stage by providing the Construction Project Manager with an inclusive, detailed, and executable construction plan.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of processes, tools, and standards to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in training program enhancements and contribute to the creation of training content related to project management and BESS development.
  • Lead or assist with special projects and strategic initiatives based on skills, experience, and organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering, construction management, finance/accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in BESS project management, preferably with a focus on engineering, economics, or construction.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, matrixed project teams and coordinate cross-functional activities from early development through construction.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Advanced Excel skills with demonstrated experience building, analyzing, and presenting financial models.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to executives, technical teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skills applied to project evaluation and decision-making.
  • Experience coordinating with environmental, regulatory, land acquisition, and interconnection stakeholders on infrastructure or energy projects.

Qualifications

  • Technical experience with renewable energy projects, particularly electricity markets, renewable generation, and battery energy storage projects.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with Six Sigma methodologies or other continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Experience in electricity markets, power systems, or grid interconnection processes.
  • Experience supporting PPA and GIA negotiations and working with jurisdictional and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with sourcing and managing contracts for geotechnical, survey, engineering, and EPC/PC construction services.
  • Comfort using project management and data management software tools to track progress, manage documentation, and report key indicators.
  • Experience contributing to process development, training content, and organizational best practices.

Work Environment

This role is based in Juno Beach, FL, within a collaborative engineering and construction environment focused on renewable energy and battery energy storage projects. The position involves close interaction with development, engineering, estimating, supply chain, scheduling, and construction teams, as well as regular engagement with executive leadership and external stakeholders such as suppliers, regulatory agencies, and local communities. Work is primarily office-based, using project management, financial modeling, and data analysis software, with occasional travel to project locations and to support development activities such as local public hearings. The environment emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, structured processes, and continuous improvement to deliver high-quality, technically robust, and financially sound BESS projects.

Pay

$40.00 - $50.00/hr

Schedule

This is a fully onsite position in Juno Beach, FL. This is a Contract to Hire position.
