About the role
This clinician provides patient care services for a range of mental health disorders, often severe including major depressive disorders, paranoia, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder. Services may be provided inpatient, outpatient, or in clinical research settings. Patient care involves routine assistance, treatment, or a specialized and controlled environment. The primary emphasis is on treatment and helping patients control their lives in the outside world using a combination of psychiatric drugs and psychotherapy. This clinician is responsible for conducting 5150 evaluations, emergency behavioral health assessments, level of care determinations, and interventions with patients and families.
Responsibilities
- Conducts 5150 evaluations and emergency behavioral health assessments
- Determines appropriate levels of care for patients
- Provides interventions to patients and families
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Administers and monitors psychiatric medications
- Provides individual, group, and family cognitive-behavioral therapy
Requirements
- Masters or doctoral degree in a related field
- Licensed in a behavioral health discipline
- Advanced skills in cognitive-behavioral therapy
- In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and ethical standards
- Advanced knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated active listening, persuasion, and counseling skills
- Experience collaborating with healthcare providers in a multi-disciplinary setting
- Knowledge of business software, specialized applications, and electronic health record systems
Qualifications
- Master's or doctoral degree in related area
- Licensed in behavioral health discipline

Pay
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
