About the Role

We're bringing Berenjak to Chicago, inspired by Tehran's neighborhood kebab houses. As we prepare to open, we're seeking passionate individuals to join our founding team. Every role is vital in creating a restaurant where guests and staff feel cared for.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an extension of the management team, maintaining programs for house-made syrups, fresh juices, batching, barrel-aged cocktails, bespoke coffee, and specialty cocktails.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the bar, including bar top, sink basins, speed rails, storage areas, floors, drains, bottles, glassware shelves, metal surfaces, and espresso machine.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workstation, update Side Work Sheets, and communicate inventory and purchase orders.
  • Represent Soho House ethos and standards, influencing sales to generate revenue.
  • Complete and delegate opening and closing bar duties, ensuring compliance with Health Department and Soho House standards.
  • Assist in seasonal menu implementations, product tastings, and beverage training program development.
  • Provide optimal guest experience through menu knowledge, pairing suggestions, and upselling.
  • Follow service standards, craft cocktails, and handle payment through POS systems.
  • Check customer identification and monitor alcohol consumption.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of bar experience with proven leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and people skills, with a focus on revenue generation.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Tips certified; Micros knowledge a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work on feet for at least 8 hours.
  • Fast-paced movements between different areas.
  • Lift, carry, or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch, and climb.

In accordance with Illinois law, the salary range for this role if filled within Chicago is $18.50—$18.50 USD. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
