The Benefits Specialist at PLD administers and supports the day-to-day operations of employee benefits programs, leave of absence processes, and related Total Rewards activities.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration, HR operations, or a related Total Rewards function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with UKG preferred; strong proficiency in HRIS platforms, benefits administration systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel required
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive employee information with a high degree of confidentiality and attention to detail
  • Excellent written communication, planning, interpersonal, time management, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain benefit plan provisions, processes, and procedures to employees with a high level of subject matter knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of leave of absence administration, including FMLA, ADA, disability, and related leave processes, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Workers’ Compensation processes, claims coordination, OSHA reporting requirements, and return-to-work accommodations preferred
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in managing changing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Exposure to compensation or broader Total Rewards reporting is preferred, including support for job data maintenance and standard reporting
  • Ability to travel occasionally, as needed

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintains advanced knowledge of the company’s benefit plans, wellness initiatives, program offerings, and applicable regulatory requirements, and serves as a subject matter resource for employees, managers, and HR partners
  • Develops, documents, and continuously improves procedures and internal controls to support efficient and compliant administration of employee benefits programs
  • Audits, processes, and updates employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in carrier and benefits administration systems, and initiates related documentation as needed
  • Maintains effective working relationships with third-party benefit administrators, carriers, and external partners
  • Affords assistance in the coordination, facilitation, and communication of benefit open enrollment and employee education meetings, as needed
  • Administers and coordinates leave of absence programs, including employee communication, documentation tracking, vendor coordination, and support for FMLA, ADA, disability, and related leave processes
  • Stays current on federal and state laws, regulations, and legislative changes affecting employee benefits and leave administration
  • Responds to employee benefit inquiries and provides clear guidance on available plans, coverage options, and employee cost structures
  • Communicates enrollment deadlines, required actions, and related benefit timelines to employees
  • Prepares benefits communication and educational materials to support employee understanding and program participation
  • Provides limited support for Total Rewards reporting and data administration, including standard reporting, data validation, and maintenance of job-related information as needed
  • Serves as backup support for Workers’ Compensation administration, including claims coordination, OSHA reporting follow-up, and return-to-work or accommodation documentation, as applicable

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based work with occasional visits to manufacturing areas (PPE required)
  • Ability to lift, up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Occasional walking, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, or crouching

Starting Salary

$72,000
